Why should I have my eyes examined regularly?
The eyes tell a great deal about what’s happening within the body. An eye exam will not only detect and treat various eye health issues but it can also detect any other unknown problems within the body.
How often should I have my eyes examined?
A person who does not have any other health issues such as Diabetes, history of eye problems or taking medications that could affect vision, should have there eyes examined every 2 years as a minimum.
People with health issues should have their eyes examined at a minimum of 2 times per year depending on the nature of the health issues.
Is my eye exam covered by OHIP?
In 2004, the Federal Government stopped covering regular eye exams with some exceptions. Eye exams are covered if you fall into any one of the following categories:
- over the age of 65
- under the age of 18
I do not fall into any of the above categories. How much does an eye exam cost?
At Higgins Fine Opticians, the cost of an eye exam is $75. However eye exams are always free with the purchase of glasses
